Dear Beulah Park Bulldogs,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! We are thrilled to be providing your PreK-2nd-Grade children an excellent education. This school year, we are looking forward to working with our great students and families. It is our belief that a strong partnership between home and school is vital to the success of our students.
About Your Principal...
As an 11-year resident of Zion, it is very exciting to be serving my community as the principal of Beulah Park Elementary School for the second year. Prior to becoming the principal here, I was an assistant principal at Lakeview School. Before obtaining a position in Zion as an administrator, Waukegan Community Unit School District was my professional home. I spent 12 years as a middle school English Language Arts teacher for grades 6-8.
Entering the field of education has not always been my heart's desire. Coming from a family of educators, I was determined to seek a different career field and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration. I completed an internship and had my heart set on being employed by Lake County's 19ht Judicial Circuit Court in Pretrial Services. Fortunately, that did not happen. Instead, I made the decision to pursue a Master's Degree in Teaching at Rockford University through an alternative certification program, and the rest is history.
Free time isn't found often, but I do take time to work out regularly. Zumba is and has been my favorite workout for 9 years. I also find time to regularly catch up with my 17-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter who lead pretty busy lives themselves.
I am excited for what this new school year will bring. Knowing that I will be instrumental in helping to create a first school experience for many of your children makes my heart smile, and I do not take this lightly. I understand that now is the time for some of Zion's youngest community members to develop a love for learning, reading, and attending school.
Please know that I am more than willing to make myself available to Beulah's families, and I look forward to working with you all in establishing a place where families are comfortable sending the light of their lives and allowing Beulah staff to provide your learners the best education possible.
Yours in Education,
Deirdra Jackson
